Do Not Wipe Your Tears Away (Tears)

DO NOT WIPE YOUR TEARS AWAY (also known as TEARS)
by Jodie Senkyrik, ©, 1996

Do not wipe your tears away.
Let them flow down your cheek.
Let them create a stream on your face
to allow the healing waters to flow.

Let the waters cleanse your skin
and wash your face with silk.
Let them caress you lightly
and reveal to you, your heart.

Let the water fall to the earth,
and a tree will grow from it.
Let your tears flow from their depths
and they will release the seeds of your soul.

Do not be careful
Do not be contained
or proper or polite.
Do not wipe your tears away.

Taste them on your lips
and know that you have graced yourself today.

  1. Jodie,

This is a beutiful and guiding poem~prayer, for me.
I cried last week at the National Funeral for the Prescott Hotshots.

I will be sharing this poem with as many Prescott folks that I can reach, and filing it away for future sends…….

So gald when men have big enough hearts to be able to cry………..

You have probabaly ehard, that one of the hardest journeys for Westerners is from the head to the heart?

    Namaste, Roberta

  2. Wow really hit me in a vulnerable place. I am over sensitive and cry easily. I have been told by many how sensitive I am yet I feel it is important and ok to cry because it is a truth. I’m sure I can state, when I worked, it has not done much for me. Lol even when I try hard not to. And then later I kick myself, there is nothing wrong with crying because it is a truth of the heart.

Forgot to say, your poem is the first time I feel permission to do so. Strength.
